Wrist Straps

If you work in a field where you handle or repair Electrostatic Sensitive Devices (ESD’s), wrist straps are an essential means of preventing static damage to fragile instrumentation. Wrist straps protect ESD’s by serving as a grounding source for any built up static energy that accumulates in the body. A metal plate is integrated into the strap which wraps around the wrist, while a cord made out of conductive material connects the strap to an object of the wearer’s choosing via an alligator clip. This serves to ground any static charges that are generated. By simple wearing one of these antistatic wrist straps you can prevent costly electrical damage to many ESD’s, including computer chips, circuit boards, laser diodes, and many other electrical components.
